Note that if you choose to do this, you will need to relocate the Air Cleaner Housing about 3/8 inch back towards the rear of the bike. This is easily done by elongating the 4 mounting holes in the plastic air cleaner housing, and sliding it back 3/8 inch. A minute or so with a rat-tail file will do it.
The vertical frame member is the next barrier to any further elongation of the intake manifold, which obviously cannot be moved.
The longer SUS Bolts I picked up at the local Hardware store, but you can also get these from a friendly Triumph Dealer, or Bike Bandit would be another source if you have deep pockets. Look at the specific Crankcase Cover mounting bolts, as they are the same length as these new, longer bolts.
My bike has had this mod for about two years now, runs great, especially since I do primarily two-up riding, and most often choose hilly style terrain to ride on. To answer your next question... yes, we have hills in NW Illinois!
Novices on various "Biker" websites often ask:"Did you have a dyno run on this mod?" to which I never bother to reply. No need for any "Mine's bigger than your's" competitions, as I know my bike well enough to know if it has been improved.. or sometimes not. At any rate, 99% of these guys wouldn't know how to properly read / interpret the data on a Dynamometer chart (other than peak HP) anyway. Important thing is: I like it!
