2008 Honda VTX1800F - Short Shift

Performance Cruiser Or Another Cruiser Performance? It looks sporty enough. At least as sporty as a 775-pound motorcycle can. Relative to the original 2002 VTX1800-Honda's first salvo in the displacement race-the VTX1800F adds an assortment of racy-looking bits along with a significant bit of history. Once upon a time, the F-suffix meant broadband Super Sport in Honda parlance, as in 1975 CB500F, '79 CB750F and '87 CBR600F Hurricane.

Cool Re: 2008 Honda VTX1800F - Short Shift

I have read on varios Honda forums around the net, that honda is going to discontinue the VTX1800 linup with the 2010 model year, leaving only two 750 Shadows, and the 1300 VTX line for their cruisers. not tpo mention that butt ugly DN-01 680CC VLX derived V-Twin with the Automatic transmission, that will retail for, now remember, this is for a 680cc bike, $14,000 US. Which strangly enough, was the same as what the VTX 1800 line cost around, give or take a few $ Hundred. And to top it all off, they have done away with their most popular V-Twin mid size, the wonderful, fairley inexpensive 600cc VLX Shadow, that to the untrained eye, looks a lot like a Harley Sporster that has been improved.

Wow, Discontinue the 1800cc VTwin

That almost sounds "un-american".

Re: 2008 Honda VTX1800F - Short Shift

My wife learned to ride on a 600 VLX, she rode it for two years and I still got a good price when I sold it. Good bikes!

Could all this be a result of the Economic gloom we are facing? The Honda Motor Company is obviously a sharp and savvy manufacturer, who may be planning far ahead of the others for the downturn in sales forthcoming?Just a thought.
