| Re: Triumph Thunderbird Test Ride, 04 August Welcome to this forum Mellem and compliments on your T'Bird, dual headlights INcluded .
Mine (" La Bird") is std... except for the BB kit, TOR pipes, blue (vs std black) radiator covers and just a couple of x'tra chrome bits.
The ONE thing (thus far ) I want to install next is the optional chrome-plated belt sprocket (only available next March?) as the std one looks way too... utilitarian to me. .
(We are snowed under here as well, BTW).
Best. Jamie |

Welcome to the Forum. Your T-Bird looks great. As you read in my amatuer review, I really liked the bike, just a few minor - and highly personal - things I envisioned changing... including the headlight.
Aesthetics are highly subjective, so everyone has different perspectives. Your dual headlight idea and approach is extremely nice, fits the overall bike well IMHO.
More poics please, and keep those posts coming!!
Ride Safe!

| Re: Triumph Thunderbird Test Ride, 04 August Hey Bob, great review. You mentioned good handling at low speeds in the parking lot. Would you consider this bike more than suitable for all weather commuting/low speed urban/street riding as well as of course for open road cruising. Regards.

Pipi3 | Absolutely . This bike is super easy to ride, as the ergo's have been well designed by Triumgh with a low CoG, and excellent weight distribution.
Jamie would be the best to ask, as he owns one, and you can also check out the latest issue of Cycle World, which also provides an excellent review/comparison.

| Re: Triumph Thunderbird Test Ride, 04 August Am quite pleased with mine (Dec. '09 issue) on all accounts... but one: its only flaw, 7 months after taking delivery of it, is its rather limited cornering clearance. Lots of peg scraping happening. The "hero blobs" are already gone on mine (i.e. riding solo) but both the bike and the undersigned are asking for way more leaning (Brits often say "banking") latitude . (BTW Raask of Sweden, never to miss a beat, already offers a kit made up of higher pegs and repositioned levers. I might order it although I sense/fear that both the l/h gear levers and the mufflers will be the next items to make a pounce onto the asphalt)
Hope this provides some useful perspective. And does NOT deter. Best.

| Re: Triumph Thunderbird Test Ride, 04 August Bob, Jamie, many thanks for that. I am looking to replace my Yamaha Fazer FZ6 which has been a very reliable commuter bike, but I now want something I can also take to Europe, either solo or 2 up. I just loved the looks of the Thunderbird from the moment I saw it!
