Re: More new Triumphs on the way

Speed,

I'm feeling better and better about the Triumph organisation every day, parts bin engineering or not.

Someone at Triumph is doing their homework, and generating some excitement and fresh ideas to bring to market it seems. Much moreso (IMHO) than many other brands out there, and all at a reasonable and comprehensible price/value.

I test rode a Thunderbird, a Speed Triple R and a Tiger in the past 12 months, and was extremely impressed by all three.

My only negative(s) surrounding Triumph, is the fact that they have never sent me a survey, or Customer Feedback style questionnaire, nor has anyone ever called to ask if all was well, or "how's it going?". Many Manufactureres now do this, but to my knowledge, not Triumph. Being that they don't sell THAT many bikes per annum, it is entirely possible. On the other hand, I have telephoned Triumph in Hinckley, and in Atlanta numerous times to talk various engineering and technical topics, and they were very gratious, patient () sincere, and helpful. That said, maybe we're even on that point.

Just for the record: A business that doesn't care at all about Customer feedback is temporary. Period.

My only other complaint is that they (Triumph) really don't have an acceptable riders discussion/participation website. Nothing "Official" at any rate. The Facebook / Twitter / Whatever portion of their corporate website is... weird(?) and disorganised. Someone's idea of modern and trendy I suppose, but hopeless from a blog, or discussion forum perspective. Triumph needs to become involved from a technical perspective, and to field various questions and/or concerns. Otherwise, these topics become open to widespread conjecture and opinion, sometimes interesting, but more often "conspiracy theorists" bait, and often so far off from a technical perspective as to be laughable (cryable?)...

We certainly welcome any Triumph riders or fans to participate in any discussions here on this site, so maybe THIS could be the better new, refreshing site for Triumph riders.

Any Engineering or Design folks out there in cyberland from Triumph? Feel free to jump into the fray!

Ride Safe!

Bob

I wish a larger Daytona was back in the mix, but am eager to take a look at the new Sprint GT.

It's amazing how Triumph has fared in these times

Re: More new Triumphs on the way

John Bloors and Triumphs achievements can not be overstated. It really was miraculous to re-awaken the bike industry in the UK after the debacles of the 60's and 70's. No-one could have believed it possible.

It was a good job that he financed the whole thing out of his own pocket as the financial centres wouldn't invest in anything so ridiculous as motorcycle manufacturing in the UK.

A few years ago I met a couple of long distance adventure-type riders just back from Africa and they turned out to be journalists from a well-known and respected bike magazine. The conversation turned to Triumph and to pour cold water on my admiration and surprise concerning their astonishing come back, they stated that the whole thing was no more than a money laundering exercise to complement John Bloors construction empire.

As soon as it starts to make a profit he'll close it down as it will serve no purpose, they said. I'm glad to say they were wrong.

I'd like to know why the British establishment has not honoured such a man with at least an MBE or even a Knighthood for his achievements. Plenty of less-deserving types have got one.

I suppose they couldn't have a humble ex-plasterer shaking Her Majestys hand, he might not know how to behave in such exalted company...

Didn't she send one of her boys to inspect the damage after the fire? I guess that is the next best thing to a knighthood!

It wasn't that long ago that Triumph was going to be acquired by another very rich person, outside the UK. At the time the buyer was considering Ducati as well.

Given the amount of information that somehow makes it up to the Royal Family, I would think that granting a title to a person who is contemplating the sale of one of the country's assets would not make much sense.

That's just my opinion though.
