08 KLR 21 Blue

It's nice to have a number of bikes, different bikes for different applications, like tools in a toolbox.

I'm the happy owner of an '08 KLR 650, 21 blue. I've acessorized the bike a bit since I purchased it in this spring. I've added the OEM high windscreen, OEM tail bag, aftermarket rear master cylinder guard, serrated stainless foot pegs, 1.5" lowering links (it sat a bit too high for my old butt to get on easily)and a Loobman chain oiler (much cheaper than a ScotOiler and does the same thing). Finally, I've replaced the Doohickey with Eagle Mikes as well as changed out the OEM spring for the torsion spring......a very worthwhile modification.

I find I'm riding the bike more than my others simply because it's very efficient at 59 mpg, plus the fun factor is extremely high.

Did you buy those lowering links or make them yourself Skip? Got any pics?

Re: 08 KLR 21 Blue

I purchased the lowering links. The center to center distance is 5.00" but it's actually less expensive to purchase a set. The labor entailed in making a set would be great. Dropping the bike 1.5" makes all the difference in the world and reduces the ground clearance less than 1".
