One of the long-standing dilemmas involving community forums is when someone posts useful content. It may be short how-to, a list of places to get great custom bits for your bike, or an extensive write-up that is extremely helpful to other community members. If it isn't kept in plain-view, then it is moved down the historical thread listing as new threads are posted.

Forum stickies are great for introduction threads, or allowing a community share common interests. They are also useful for making good information quickly accessible to all users, but at some point they can become excessive.

The Online Library was created for the purpose of posting and organizing useful information that isn't necessarily "discussed" but "shared". Common examples that make good Library Documents are:
  • Mods for a particular bike
  • A How-To
  • GPS/Map Route files
  • Itinerary for a regular event
  • Review of a Product, Service, or Event
  • Long documents that are served well with a multi-page format.
Creating a Document is as easy as creating a forum post, but with a few added features such as improved layouts and document subscription.

If a particular forum community finds that there are too many documents, the Moderator can create just one post/sticky listing all of the documents in your community's library.

Can't get simpler than that!

Note: The Online Library is not a discussion forum.
