Something more upbeat...

O.K., amid all the gloom and doom, "Economic Crisis", moaning and complaining about the "guvmint"...

Let's change the subject for a while to something more upbeat and positive!

I'll start.

Three Motorcycle Things I vow to do this Summer:

1.) Attend "Strugis on the River" Davenport, Iowa (on the Mississippi).

2.) Do a Track Day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Illinois.

3.) Install the new luggage rack my kids are surprising me with for Fathers Day. Once installed, take the wife on an overnighter somewhere... anywhere.

Now... what's your three vows!

Most of my goals have been purchases:

  1. With the exception of my actual bike, I've needed just about everything else - tires, helmet, gloves, summer riding gear. The only thing left is the summer riding gear, which is likely going to be new Cortech mesh jacket/pants they've come out with.
  2. Double the miles on my bike this summer, which will include one multi-day trip. Don't know where yet.
  3. Attend an event other than Bikes, Blues, and BBQ - anywhere in the country.

Re: Something more upbeat...

1. Add a few more things to my S3 (bar/levers/seat) and I will be near the end of modifying. Time for a new ride?

2. Turn the SV into a track bike. This one will be tricky as the missus claims ownership of said SV 650.

3. As always improve my riding skills. That means lots more miles on some Arkie back roads.

Re: Something more upbeat...

I'll chime in on this one.

I didn't make the R3 rally in Maggie Valley this year because this weekend I'm mounting a sidecar on a HD (of all things). It's a paying job and I need the money...

Anyway,

Ride all 3 bikes more......
Install the 685 Kit in the KLR which entails boring the liner, gapping the rings and fitting the piston.....
Make the pilgrimage to Marne in August with the sidecar outfit and of course enter it in the show.....
Try to make a few trips somewhere. My riding buddy KLR Dave wants to do an 'around the edge of Michigan' ride this summer which I'm game for. That's 1500 miles, never leaving the state, all 2 lane roads, just fine for the KLR.
Hopefully adding some soft luggage to the KLR. I'd like to get a set of panniers. I'd like to gey Jessie Panniers but I can't afford them. Guess I'll get a set of Cortech soft bags...anything to pack my dyties in.
