Visited MotorcycleCloseOuts in K.C.

Since life at the office was not going well Friday morning, and the forecast called for more rain this weekend, I decided to leave early and take the family with me to Kansas City. We stayed at a hotel just south of the area and drove in late Saturday AM to visit the retail storefront for MotorcycleCloseOuts.Com.

It was a small store, but stocked with a wide selection of sport/touring riding gear - an amazing place. I was able to pickup the remaining needed items for both spring and summer riding. The cost to travel up there paid for itself in price savings and being able to purchase what I knew was going to work.

A couple of the items were in stock, but they went down to their warehouse to get my specific size or desired color. I've got things that have never been tried on The manager and staff were all very good to work with.

BTW, the Cortech GTX Air isn't the jacket I expected. It's a decent jacket for moderate climates, but not in the humid areas of Arkansas.

Re: Visited MotorcycleCloseOuts in K.C.

Thanks for the lead on this store. Looks good.

By the way - My new Tourmaster Rincon Jacket; a "longer term" review:

Best, absolutely best winter riding jacket I've ever owned. Actually, it's too warm sometimes, if you can believe it. Here in the northern climes, I'd recommend it for anyone, especially those who like to winter ride, as in 30 degrees F and less.

Summer use? Way too hot, even with the liner removed, and all the zippered vents opened. A few weeks ago I made a 300 mile run up tp Wisconsin for a business meeting. The morning was cool when I left home, so no problem. but it had warmed up to around 75 in the afternoon, and I ended up having to stop after a few miles and strip off the jacket as it was unbearable.

Excellent jacket, but not for warm weather use.

Luckily, I still have my old Belstaff jacket for the spring and fall.

Cheers,

Bob

I like Motorcyle closeouts they have a lot of stuff in that little store. The good thing is that you can try on the different brands that you don't see at the local dealers.

What did you end up going with?

Re: Visited MotorcycleCloseOuts in K.C.

For hot summer riding, I ended up with a Fieldsheer Mach 7 Mesh Jacket and matching mesh pants. The jacket's armor is set, but I may have to replace the hip armor in the pants. The pants were discounted, but they were practically letting the Mach 7 Jackets go. They had them in a rack by the front door as you walked in.

I noticed Fieldsheer Perforated Razor Jacket hanging on the wall (in gunmetal) and fell in love with it. They noticed I liked red colors and went to the warehouse to bring the red version of the jacket over. When I was sold on the jacket, they had to open a new shipment for the matching Fieldsheer perforated leather pants in my size. Their comment was that they get so much product in that they were confident it was onsite in my size. The jacket is set with CE armor in all the right places, including the back. I'll have to swap out existing CE Pads from my old gear to get the Fieldsheer pants up to spec, the leather pants came with only foam pads.

Joe Rocket isn't usually my first choice in gear, but there were some great jackets there. They had a great selection of Shift gear, and several Alpinestars items. There was so much stuff to choose from

I was told why Fieldsheer is priced so low for new items, and will just say that now is the time to get it.

During my Triumph-riding days, my favorite was a perforated leather Paddock Jacket that waist-zipped to Triumph leather pants (I also had the textile version of the same jacket). The Fieldsheer Razor is close to it, with added benefits of improved armor and back protection. Looking forward to getting on the road with it.

With the wife and boy, it was impossible to plan anything. I didn't call anyone to let them know (not even long-time friends). We made a quick trip downtown to a building I used to work in and checked out the town pavilion area, then split.

I'll admit that the trip isn't the challenge it used to be in a vehicle, but it would still be boring on a bike.

Re: Visited MotorcycleCloseOuts in K.C.

When I left Eureka Springs last summer aftewr the tally, I rode with Tom north out of ES on 2 lane roads quite a ways before I headed east on the slab. Seemed like a nice ride north.

I see they had a spill in Maggie Valley. 2 Captains and their wives went down, I presume either on the Skyway or on the Dragon. Not hurt too bad, just bumps and road rash, from what I hear.

I didn't know about the mishaps in Maggie Valley, but just read up on it.

Regarding the roads, I'd burn up my BT-002 Bridgestones on roads that straight. Translation: Honey I need another bike
