A Love - Hate relationship...

Pondering the feedback from the recent "We sure discuss interesting things" thread, I thought maybe some thoughts on what folks like... and dislike, to discuss might be of interest.

Say top five you like, top five you dislike.

I Like to discuss:

1.) Bike Roadtrips, with pics. The more descriptive and colorful the better. Good roads, scenery, challenging roads, etc.
2.) Bike events, reports and perspectives on the same, with pics please. Would you return next year? Good times? Bad times?
3.) Recent political events, but only with mature, intelligent and respectful people. Otherwise, I'm outta there. No reason to waste time. Hopefully with a link somehow to motorcycling, but not always.
4.) New bikes, new models, test rides, new gear offerings. Pragmatic bikes, gear and other offerings of interest to the average Joe. No "I just bought my new $35,000 Indian Chief. Ain't she shiney?" offerings please.
5.) Business management, success stories, life management. Related to motorcycling if possible, but not mandatory. Philosophy... Zen. Love it!

I hate to, or refuse to, discuss:

1.) Dumbass subjects like "loud pipes save lives", Newbie, poser trash stuff to waste precious time. Life is too short to waste on drivel.
2.) Modifying our bikes. O.K., I might get hooked in temporarily, but the unbelievable amount of "expert" cyber-mechanics who dole out wrong, and often dangerous, advice make me ill and nervous. Best to stay away from self proclaimed experts who oddly also happen to spend 24/7 on the internet. When do they find the time? One wonders.
3.) Politics with foreigners. Nothing is more bothersome than some loudmouth who has never lived in nor visited the USA giving his half-baked opinion of our great country. I won't bad mouth your home, so keep your trap shut about mine.
4.) "My bike is better/faster/more expensive than yours" discussions - wasted words with pathetic punk posers (PPP's).
5.) Discussions with character flawed internet addicts who look to gain enjoyment by stirring up trouble, or posting calculatedly objectionable content to get off on the reaction. You can smell these poor souls a mile away. If you ignore them, the attention seeking thrill is missed, and they go away. See ya'.

Fortunately, we have all of the top five, and none of the bottom five thus far, which is great. What with the economic climate ahead, I would suspect we will need to be prepared for an onslought of the worst types, but then again, maybe not.

What are your favorite / least favorite subjects? It would be interesting to tally up the results after a week or so.

Re: A Love - Hate relationship...

My top five favorites are:
  1. Discussions about exciting Motorcycles
  2. Discussions about Gear (I can't stand to buy normal clothes, but love browser through leathers and goretex)
  3. Discussions that help motorcyclists solve problems
  4. Sharing Pics
  5. Overcoming Challenges and Adversity common with Motorcyclists
Top Five Dislikes:
  1. Forum/Blog Hijackers
  2. Hackers
  3. Hateful Posts / Personal Attacks
  4. Passing Judgment on particular motorcycle brand owners
  5. The "Herd Mentality"
It is a difficult time for Motorcyclists these days, change is not a high priority, but I've got faith.
