One additional point, perhaps a little contrary to the whole "Iron Butt" theme, might be to
enjoy the journey, don't be so focussed and obsessed on the destination, and try to enjoy every second of the ride. Hear the birds, smell the manure and skunk spray, as well as the flowers and breezes from the river, lake or ocean. See the fantastic roadside show of scenery and sunrises, sunsets. Pull over. Take many pictures. Slow down, enjoy life ...you'll get there.
