Motorcycle Goals and Objectives 2010

Any Motorcycle - Specific Goals for 2010?

Mine are:

1.) Finishing off some Cylinder Head and Intake work begun last year. I have all the parts and stuff in hand, just need to make the time. Need a long weekend.
2.) Spring Slimey Crud Run, Wisconsin
3.) Spring Open House, Team Triumph, Wisconsin
4.) Bonnevilleamerica.com run to Galena, Illinois
5.) At least two good track days with my son, Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Illinois.
6.) Make a final decision on a new long range Touring Bike.
7.) An overnighter to Road America, Wisconsin. Watch the motorcycle races all day, have some fun at night!
8.) A long weekender in the Smokey Mountains, Tennessee.
9.) Fall Slimey Crud Run, Wisconsin
10.) Fall Open House, Team Triumph, Wisconsin.

Mostly, take more photos on these trips, as well as the normal weekend excursions. I always vow to do this, but never want to stop and click.

The only "maybe" is the Smokey Mountain trip. Better if I have the big Tourer for this one, as 8-9 hours each way on the Bonneville would be... a pain in the #$@!.

What are YOUR goals?

Ride Safe!

Bob

Re: Motorcycle Goals and Objectives 2010

I have three goals that never change they are to ride Faster, Safer, and Further.
Other than that I'm probably not going to get to do a long trip this year, was hoping to go west and do CO, NM, WY, UT I'll leave it on the list though. I am going to do an Iron Butt probably this spring, just to say I did it why else. I went thru three bikes last year maybe not so many this year although I have had a hankerin' for something Italian. Also thinking of changing my screen name here any suggestions (keep them PG13).

It's more like my ongoing wish-list:
  • Consider a new motorcycle with more power.
  • Get back into at least one ride during a weekday-evening.
  • Visit a couple motorcycle shows, possibly one up north.
  • Contribute and Grow a Fun motorcycle community.
The challenge will be accomplishing this during what will become an unusual year.

Looks like my western states tour is back on! Don't want to celebrate to soon and jinx it, but the stars seem to be aligning in my favor.

Re: Motorcycle Goals and Objectives 2010

A few more personal objectives...

Focus on riding "Smoother", i.e., satin smooth starts, silky smooth shifting, ultra smooth deceleration, etc. Try it... you'll like it! I'd venture the bike likes it as well.

Focus on the moment Vs the destination - enjoy my rides more. Look around. Notice things. See more of the landscape. Stop more often to take in the view.

Take more pics of rides, etc.

A big one: Stay away from bike sites that tend to pee me off. You know the ones with the self appointed "know-it-all" "experts" (read lonely keyboard tappers) that spew out pithy pontifications on most anything concerning performance. Fact is - these guys are merely trying to validate their own personal mods and expenditures, and care little for what the other posters are requesting, or their riding style. Attempting to proclaim oneself as the best "Internet Mechanic" is arguably a weird goal or objective at any rate. Virtual wrenches? I say: "Get a job."

I'm all for gathering and sharing verifiable information from reputable, objective oriented sources, discussing the pro's and con's of this or that performance modification, but totally against strongly suggesting or demanding that others do this or that. In the end, if an individual is naive enough to religiously follow the suggestions of a stranger or 'cyber-friend' on the interent... caveat emptor.

Just some thoughts...

Ride Safe(and smooth)!

Bob
