Bike Show Today February 19th

A reminder to all that today - Feb. 19th - starts the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Chicago.

It's out by O'Hare Airport, off of River road. (see attachment).

Chicago Show Facts - Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows

Be there... or be square!

I'm going tonight - Friday, with my two sons who both ride. The wife is out of sorts, so isn't going(). First time she's missed in many, many, many years, so this is a total bummer.

Actually, it's clear and sunny today, and around 35 degrees F... "real men" would ride to the show!

Guess I'm not a "real" man!

Anyway, always a good show, and good ol' Peter Egan from CW will be on stage at 7:00 PM talking about... stuff.

See ya' there.

Ride Safe!

Bob

Re: Bike Show Today February 19th

The show was great. The only complaint would be... no BMW Booth. Too bad, but it also may contribute to their success thus far in late '09, early '10. Expenditure wise I mean.

Harley had by far the largest and most extravagent booth. It was well done. They had a nice new CR1200 on display. Nice bike, but where would you put any luggage, etc., without ruining the lines and function of the bike? Think about it.

Also nice booths by Ducati, Honda, and Yamaha. Suzuki's was a little sparse IMHO.

Indian was there, but not too many takers. Ridiculously expensive, and nothing new, or reasonable to offer, performance wise. $25 bucks for a cheap, 'made in China' ball cap. No thanks, last time I looked in the mirror, I didn't see a fool. Doubt they'll make it.

Tons of vendors, but how much leather can one buy? I vote for we all look for a different material in this new millenium, leather is gettin' old.

What is it that relates skanky, skantily clad, mean lookin' girls to Motorcycles? Anyuway, there were plenty of these acting as models. OK, so I checked 'em out. But the question of the relation still remains...

Some nice custom Bikes, three pics of my favorite custom attached. The guy said he used spray Urethane as a base, then sculpted it to the required shapes, then applied a "secret" plasticised coating to waterproof, add durability, and allow paint. The bike looks like something from outer space, or one of these great Post Apocolypse movies. Very original, and cool.

I also attended a short interview with Peter Egan, my favorite Motorcycle Author. We spoke briefly after the show, and I had my son shoot a pic of us. Great guy, great for the biking world.

Ride Safe!

Looks like you had a good time. I thought BMW was going to be at the Chicago show, but may be confused.

What did you think of the Honda VFR1200F ?

Re: Bike Show Today February 19th

Confirmed, BMW was not at the Chicago Show. I was really disappointed, as I wanted to drool over the K1200 and 1300 tourers.

Another disappointment was no new "Norton". How do they expect to sell these things?

I saw the Honda VFR1200F. Couldn't get near it - seriously. Many folks were in line to sit on it, and crowding around to oogle its innards. Nice bike, no doubt.

One more complaint... food. A guy could make a fortune if he could put in a booth with great food at reasonable prices. Something "wrong" about a stale bunned, over-boiled Hot dog for $4.75. An approximately 10 oz. "Coke" for $3.75, and so on. Then again, I'd guess it costs heaps to rent and set-up the floor space, so who's to blame?

Ride Safe!
