Question Moto Guzzi California lll 1989/90 ~ value??

Hey there folks,
I am helping my father out and I actually need some advice as to what I should sell this bike for.
If it were just the bike I could handle it but there are enough spare parts to make a future owner grin.
The bike is stamped 1989 but imported and sold as 1990 model.

She has only had a single veteran rider own her.
Less than 30,000 miles, used annually, stored in a heated garage over the winter and babied as a bike should be.

Has throttle cruise control lever and helmet lock.
Hard luggage/storage

Motorcycle in good running condition to my knowledge.

~~Only known issues~~
Starter must have slight issue (some times need to move bike in gear – to turn starter for starter to engage) it’s probably a bendix or starter gear.

Tachometer does not work.

Front tire/wheel should be re-balanced (slight wobble low speed hands off handle bar). Hands on handle bar no wobble. Higher speed runs smooth no wobble.

Latest new parts installed on bike

· New u joint and bearings in drive shaft also installed new clutch plate and throw-out bearings
· Installed new style braided overhead oil lines.
· Both tires were replaced because of side wall cracks.

~*~ Going with the bike is an extensive amount of spare parts & a microfiche reader and films for both Moto Guzzi & KTM

Re: Moto Guzzi California lll 1989/90 ~ value??

Looks like a Guzzi guys dream, problem is Guzzi folks are few and far between.

My experience has been that if I have a bike w/lot of accessories, I strip the bike to as stock as I can get it and sell the bike. Then ebay the accessories or find forums where there are want ads and try to sell them there. This is a pain and takes some time, but has been the only way I've been able to recoup the money invested in accessories.

With this particular bike may just come down to finding the right buyer at the right time. Just my $.02, hope you have good luck selling the bike it is certainly an interesting one.

Thank you for the advice Shaun~

Selling the parts separate is a consideration but I have to be honest, I was hoping to do it as a 'package deal' though in no way have I ruled out your suggestion.

My fingers are crossed if I find the right asking price for the whole kit and caboodle I'll find her future owner : )

Not to sound biased but she is a fabulously comfortable bike to ride.

Have a great day!

Peace
