Re: Ouch!

I've done a lot of chiropractor time already this year; I'm a wimp when it comes to back issues.

Can't imagine what you're going through; take care of yourself.

Re: Ouch!

Been fighting back and neck problems for a long time. Physical therapy and drugs have worked so far (finally swore off chiropractors) but know that surgery is in my future at some point.

Get well and riding as soon as possible!

Re: Ouch!

I've been an on/off chiropractor patient since my early teens, and will admit that some of the previous doctors have come and gone under questionable circumstances. My current doctor is a bit of a simplistic individual, but has accomplished amazing things. Between vehicle accidents and work-related injuries in my younger years, it's amazing that I've been able to avoid surgery.

One of my favorites was also an acupuncture specialist. That year I didn't contract any colds, skipped allergy medicine, and bypassed an entire flu season without incident - but he moved away - guess there wasn't enough progressive thinkers in Fayetteville.

Another former doctor, who I had to give up after she refused to participate in my insurance, was old-school. She was a back and neck cracker - call me old-fashioned but that's the way it should be done

But it's not for everyone, and certainly not for every situation.

Re: Ouch!

Sincerely sorry to hear of this Jamie. Rest up, do whatever the "Doc" sez, and heal up quick.

Fortunately, I've never had any serious back injuries or pains. Did have knee surgery about 8 years ago, that immediately eliminated about 20 years of hobbling around.

To add to others comments, absolutely some Doctors are great, some... not so great, even bad. I had a great one from 2005 to 2009, then he had to return to his homeland in the Phillippines to care for his aged mother. New guy is... passable, but O.K. for now. Personally, and at high risk of being "ethnic" , I much prefer Asian Doc's for some reason. I think they are hungrier(!), and assume that they studied much harder as their parents sacrificed and saved for a lifetime to help them get schooling, etc. American Doc's strike me as arrogant, and more concerned about getting paid, or avoiding malpractice, than helping patients. IMHO, your results may vary.

I also had a Dental "specialist" lately who for some odd reason did NOT want to deal with my (or any) insurance companies (we have BC/BS, Preferred Provider coverage), and expected you to pay up front, then deal with reimbursement yourself (goodbye!). Their office WAS in a somewhat run-down neighborhood, so I assumed they had been ripped off at one time or another. Seems like an extremely poor business decision to make ALL present and future patients suffer because one, or a few, didn't pay. "Do no harm".

Pop Quiz: What do they call the student who graduates at the very bottom of the annual medical school class? (Answer tomorrow)

Anyway - Get well soon Jamie, I need feedback on my daily rants!!
Some "Yin to my "Yang"!

Ride Safe!

Thanks much dear old mate Have to lay totally flat on my back for another 3 weeks, about 20 hours a day. Not truly conducive to reading, is it? Next week, I am also scheduled to go through some heart check-up.

I shall overcome and hopefully resume riding in a month's time. Regards. Jamie
