Moto Morini's Demise

Moto Morini went into receivership last week, according to the Italian trade press. Lack of a financial suitor and labor issues seem to have led to such a sad outcome.

News like this is always sad, for both motorcycling in general, and moreso for the unfortunate people who are faced with joblessness.

What will be left coming out of Italy? Ducati?

Ride safe!

Sad news indeed. I owned a silver and black 1200 Corsaro (not the Veloce) a couple of years ago and it really endeared itself to me. Great torque with a stonking midrange and strong top end combined with easy usability at low revs around town made it it a lovely bike to ride (it would comfortably run down to 80kph in top gear around town). It had a bullet-proof feel to the motor although I didn't keep it long enough to pass judgement on it's long-term longevity. I hankered after the Grand Passo after I sold the Corsaro but I guess that this will be another unrealized dream! I reckon the Moto Morini Scrambler would have been a hoot as well!
