Supertest World Association: 2010 Superbikes comparo.

This year, the test migrated from its usual venue, Almeira in Spain, to the FIA-homlogated Serres track in Greece. Ducati, KTM and Bimota did not participate. The final ranking based on lap times, dyno power and torque measurements, comfort, price/performance relationship, etc., is as follows:

1. BMW S 1000 SR (winner by a LONG shot!)
2. APRILIA RSV4
3. MV AGUSTA F4 1000
4. KAWASAKI ZX-10R
5. SUZUKI GSX-R 1000
6.YAMAHA YTF R1
7. HONDA CBR 1000 RR Fireblade

Two surprises to the Association: 1) BMW's absolute supremacy and 2) the relegation of the -formerly dominant- Japanese "fab fours" to the last places.

My source: MotoSport Suisse/MotorSport Schweiz (one of the participating mags), Aug. 9/10 issue.

Think the Japs are in bunker mentality, Zooki didn't even release an updated 2010 sport bike just leftovers.

Re: Supertest World Association: 2010 Superbikes comparo.

My brother's BMW is in the shop unexpectedly this week, some sort of flange-part that is cracked and represents a risk of igniting the fuel tank. The cost is exorbitant with labor. They attempted to convince a trade for a new S1000RR, but he was right in that he couldn't survive a long ride on it. I'll have to demo one to find out, if I still can.

There's still a soft-spot for Aprilia though. However, if I had to go back to a long-distance dealer relationship again I may as well consider going back to Triumph.

A ZX-10R or R1 is just down the street though
