| Re: Cycle World Shows Dutch - I have gone the last three years to Chicago. Two hour drive is about the same for me.Very much worth it. EVERYONE is there - except Triumph for some strange reason - and you can actually sit on the bikes Vs them being velvet roped off. Ton's of Vendors for everything you can imagine. More than enough stuff to look at in one day, etc. More leather and doo-rag clad folk's (in snowy Chicago February yet!) than you can shake a stick at, along with tons of riders from every slant and every level of the sport!Oddly - or maybe not - no "deals" on anything, actually some price gouging going on. That said, it's a good opportunity to see and feel stuff, try on jackets and helmets for size, and then you can always find great deals afterwards on the internet.Huge booths - as is to be expected - by the big guys - Harley, BMW, Honda, etc. all the way down to little Korean or Chinese bikes/scoots booths that are interesting to check out. Most all of the Salesmen (except snooty BMW!) are cool, and helpful. Nice "Show-gals", as well. My wife even let me get my picture taken with two of 'em last year! (I've been married to her for 34 years, so all hope is lost!).Eat a good solid breakfast, as convention food stalls are not always the best - a hotdog n' Coke will have to do ya'!Get there early - as in opening time - or you'll stand in line for a while, especially around noon to 1:00 PM when most arrive. Buy Tickets on line ahead of time as well to save time.Have fun! |
