Electric Motorcycle

Further to Motoweb's question regarding electric bikes:

Here's one offer that looks to be very sincere, serious, and viable -

http://brammo.com/

$14 grand, or slightly less if you have some patience... read on.

Also, they are hiring - for those who are interested. Could be a fascinating and challenging career path.

Go for it!

Re: Electric Motorcycle

Interesting, that should deliver some linear power. Guess if you want some sound you could tape a card to the forks.

Re: Electric Motorcycle

45 Miles might get me to the In-Laws House and back home without charging, but a battery recharge would make a good excuse for stopping at one of the many "interests" along the way

On the more serious side, unless advances were made in performance and efficiency it won't sell to the common motorcyclist of our current times.

Re: Electric Motorcycle

Hey Sidecar, nice to hear from you, it's been awhile. Trust you are alright, and hope that you and yours had a very nice Christmas.

Regarding getting zapped... hmmm, maybe these things could be secretly programmed to eliminate only those riders that... nevermind.

Prophet...

I'm around. It's winter and I'm hibernating much like the warm weather creatures do. For me, wintertime is a time to increase the waistline a bit, enjoy the woodstove, read a book and stay the hell out of the cold.

Re: Electric Motorcycle

For cold weather riding, electric manufacturers would need to engineer the use of personal heating products into the mix. Otherwise, one couldn't ride an electric motorcycle in cold weather because the use of heated gloves and socks would reduce the overall range.

It was up to 65 degrees today. If I weren't still getting over a cold/bronchitis I'd be out in it.

Life ain't fair

Re: Electric Motorcycle

Obviously, you're from Arkansas (just kiddin')!! Although some riders up here use heated grips, not all do, and I don't know of anyone who uses heated socks!Great ideas though. Actually, don't heated socks come with their own battery? Don't hunters use these? Excellent glove offers and wrap around fairings nowadays make heated grips even more of a luxury than a necessity. In the end, until they get the range (45 miles) increased, it doesn't really matter. We had a couple of nice (>50 degrees) days up here last week, but I've got the bike half taken apart. Now it's back to around +12 degrees F).

Re: Electric Motorcycle

Here's yet another possibility for the more "performance" oriented folks...
