Until recently, this was a dirt road that started close to Oark and ends at Hwy 23. Hwy 23 is also known as
Pig Trail.
It had become a very cloudy morning, and had already experienced some misty conditions in the upper elevations. The road we took to get to Oark was extremely twisty. No problem for any sportbike, but would present a problem for low hanging cruisers. We saw some marks in the road that may have been from floorboards.
We stopped at the
Oark General Store and had a great burger, and turned back the way we came for a bit before starting on the new Hwy 215.
The road is wonderful, so much so that one might want to ride it all the way through then turn back and stop at one of the several vistas for camera opps and to take in the scenery. Below is an upper-elevation view of the Mulberry River from one of the vistas:
Speetrip pointed out that rock & concrete production was setup close to the river, which made up all of the rock siding we passed by along the road. It is beautiful and secured with wire. You won't have to worry about rocks falling in front of you, but there are few soft places alongside the road. It is mostly either curbs or rocks.
The road is very clean and smooth, with no residential or commercial roadside issues to be concerned with. Law Enforcement was non-existent that morning, but they will likely start to take notice. Arkansas is already known for it's great roads, but if they were all like this many more speeding tickets would be issued
Hwy 215 is a great road for any bike and is easiest to enter from Pig Trail. There are few roads in the US worth back-tracking and should be a part of any visit to our state.
